A year of food, stories and Suffolk moments
There’s something about The Bell Hotel Saxmundham that keeps people coming back. Maybe it’s the food, maybe it’s the atmosphere, or maybe it’s the way the place manages to feel both relaxed and a little bit special at the same time. Whatever the reason, 2026 is shaping up to be a brilliant year for anyone who enjoys good company, good wine and a reason to get out of the house.
The Bell has put together a line‑up of events that feel rooted in Suffolk life, warm, welcoming and full of character. Here’s a look at what’s coming up.
Gourmet Evenings – A little trip abroad without leaving town
If you enjoy an evening where the wine is chosen with care and the food has a story behind it, the hotel’s gourmet nights are well worth marking in the diary.
Hosted by wine expert Charlie Monro from Berkmann’s Wines, each evening focuses on a different European region:
- Bordeaux – Sunday, 16th April. Rich reds, classic pairings and a menu that leans into tradition
- Provence – Thursday, 2nd July. Sunshine flavours, herbs and that unmistakable southern French charm
- Sicily – Thursday, 17th September. Bold, colourful dishes shaped by centuries of Mediterranean influence
These nights always sell quickly, and it’s easy to see why. They’re relaxed, sociable and just a bit indulgent.
Moments worth making time for
The Bell has a lovely way of turning the big dates in the calendar into something personal.
- Valentine’s Dinner – Friday 13th & Saturday 14th February. Candlelight, a three‑course menu and a glass of Prosecco to start the evening
- Mother’s Day Lunch & Afternoon Tea – Sunday 15th March. A thoughtful celebration with a complimentary glass of fizz for mums
- Father’s Day Roast – Sunday 21st June 2026. A proper Sunday lunch with a pint for dads
Nothing over the top — just good food and a warm atmosphere.
Easter at The Bell – Sunday 5th April 2026
Easter brings a bit of fun to the hotel, with a themed roast and chocolate eggs for children. It’s simple, family‑friendly and always popular.
Themed weeks that celebrate British food
Two favourites return in 2026:
- British Sausage Week — Monday 26th October – Sunday 1st November. A chance to try a range of local sausages and comforting dishes
- Great British Game Week — Saturday 7th – Friday 13th November. Seasonal, hearty and perfect for autumn
Both weeks are a nod to the best of British produce and always draw a crowd.
Pudding Club Evening – 19th November
If you’ve never been to Pudding Night, it’s exactly what it sounds like…. and then some.
A light main course is followed by unlimited homemade puddings. Six of them. The only rule: you can’t move on until your plate is clean. It’s nostalgic, fun and a little bit mischievous.
A year that feels like Suffolk at its best
The Bell Hotel Saxmundham’s 2026 line‑up is shaping up nicely, with a mix of good food, relaxed celebrations and a few standout evenings. From date nights to family gatherings, there’s plenty coming up worth marking in the diary.
