A hotel steeped in British history

The Bell Hotel Saxmundham has a rich past filled with local folklore and national history. In Georgian times it was the hub of the local community, and a place for travellers – and sometimes kings – to park their coaches and rest their weary heads. Now, having restored the hotel to its full glory, we invite a new generation of travellers, sightseers, and lovers of local food and drink into our warm and welcoming interior.

Interested in discovering more about the amazing history of Saxmundham and The Bell? Be sure to check out our display when you arrive in reception – it’s quite a story.

Our hotel’s ground floor is completely wheelchair accessible, ensuring convenience for our disabled guests. Additionally, we offer a lift that grants access to the bedrooms located on our first floor.

Disabled access at The Bell

Throughout our thorough renovation process, one of our key objectives was to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone, regardless of their abilities. In the initial phase, we added a wheelchair-accessible ramp to our rear entrance, ensuring that the entire ground floor is now easily accessible to all. In the subsequent phase, we introduced a lift, and we are delighted  that we now offer multiple accessible rooms on our first floor.

Our commitment to ensuring the comfort and well-being of all our guests, remains unwavering.
