A newly reopened Suffolk hotel has been named as one of the hottest places to stay in the UK by a national newspaper.
The Bell Hotel in Saxmundham reopened in December 2022 with a fresh look after a year of refurbishment and a changing of hands.
New owner, Beales Group, invested in excess of £1million in renovating the Grade II listed building.
Ahead of the opening, Beales Group managing director Andrew Beale described the project as a “true labour of love for myself and my team“.
Now, the company is already getting a return on its investment, with The Bell being recognised as one of the hottest new places to stay in the UK by The Independent.
The national newspaper said: “Another property looking sharp after a hefty, year-long refurbishment… is the Grade II listed Bell Hotel in Suffolk’s Saxmundham.
“Local outfits Brooks Architects and Cotton Tree Interiors have ramped up its appeal with comfy banquette seating and abstract wallpaper with colours inspired by Suffolk’s coastal heathland in the Heat restaurant.”
Chef Garry Cook’s menu was praised for utilising “top-notch” Suffolk suppliers, such as Salter & King’s grass-fed beef.
Currently, there are seven bedrooms available to be booked at the hotel with another eight to follow.
The rooms are fitted with Hypnos beds and some come with statement headboards intricately decorated with floral and rural designs.
The Independent also praised The Bell for its location, noting the appealing nearby destinations of Aldeburgh and RSPB Minsmere as being an “easy drive away”.
