Framlingham Castle

Southwold Pier

You can’t guarantee the weather for a Winter half term break, but you can guarantee all-weather fun at Southwold Pier. This comes in the form of great food, shopping, and sea views, alongside arcades, ice-creams and the utterly eccentric Under the Pier show, which has to be seen to be believed.

RSPB Minsmere

This beautiful nature reserve has coastal lagoons brimming with rare and endangered birds, and is a must-see for tiny twitchers. It’s also a picturesque location for an afternoon’s hike. Oh, and keep your eyes peeled near the reedbeds, and you might even catch sight of an otter too.

Sutton Hoo

Buried treasure is the theme here, with eighteen Anglo-Saxon burial mounds to explore. Of course, the real treasure is the family memories you’ll make as you hear the stories of ancient East Anglian royalty, and discover the replica ships and treasure in the exhibition area.

Aldeburgh

On a nice day, this picturesque seaside town is well worth exploring, just to see the colourful buildings and incredible shops. But should things get a little damp, catching a film in the vintage cinema (built 1919), followed by the area’s nationally renowned fish and chips, is the perfect way to spend an afternoon or evening.
