Having now invested over £ 1million in the major refurbishment of The Bell Hotel Saxmundham, new owners Beales Hotels are happy to announce they’re well on track for the grand reopening in Autumn 2022.

With much of the groundwork now complete, the historic hotel will shortly undergo the next phase of its sympathetic restoration – which will see local designers, builders, and craftspeople getting to work on reimagining the interior.

This will include a spacious and welcoming bar area, a redesigned terrace, and an elegant restaurant. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, Suffolk’s own star chef Garry Cook is putting the finishing touches on what promises to be a menu filled with his own brand of homegrown, field to fork fare – news of which has already pricked the ears of local foodies.

The interior design is being led by local team Cotton Tree Interiors, who will be adding a splash of Coastal Suffolk’s incredible heritage to the hotel. This will include unique theming and décor for each room, inspired by local beauty spots, from Woodbridge to Southwold, alongside luxury features like stand-alone baths. The finished result will be a true boutique hotel experience that draws destination travellers to the area.

A rich history, a bright future.

For the family-run Beales Hotels, best known as the owners of North London’s highest-rated hotel, West Lodge Park, acquiring The Bell Hotel is a dream come true. Particularly for General Manager, Ashley Beale. As he explains:

“When we bought The Bell Hotel earlier this year, it was more than just a business decision for me. It was an opportunity to relive all those happy Suffolk Coastal holidays from my childhood. I love this part of the country. Now, thanks to the hard work of the many local designers, contractors and artisans that are involved in the restoration, we’re finally putting The Bell back where it belongs – at the heart of local life here in Saxmundham. A place where you can meet friends for a drink, eat a great meal with your loved ones, or simply enjoy a coffee, cake and a friendly welcome. And of course, by offering a luxury hotel experience, we’ll play a role in strengthening the local economy, by increasing footfall to the many amazing businesses in the town.”

As far as the Beales Hotels are concerned, Saxmundham is the perfect location, with amazing local amenities, not to mention enjoying easy access to the whole region. It’s a town worth every penny of The Bell’s refurbishment costs.

To give Ashley the last word:

“As the grand opening gets closer, we’re excited to build ties with local businesses, provide a destination venue for visitors, and greet our neighbours in this wonderful town.”
