Anyone who has ever worked on a renovation project will know that it comes with a unique set of challenges. And transformation of The Bell hasn’t been without it’s challenges. Most recently our building contractors have uncovered further structural issues within the building, which will have to be addressed before we can move to the next stage of our refurbishment plan.
This project really is a “labour of love” for all involved, and any delays are just a reminder of how hard we’re working to make it perfect for our guests and the local community. We will keep you all up to date as we move forward, but please know that we very much value and appreciate your patience.
Progress might be slow, but we’re getting there!
On a more positive note, work is almost complete for all of the first fix electrics and plumbing. This means that we will be able to start connecting all of the fixtures, appliances, and lighting fixtures in the hotel over the next few weeks.
We’re also making progress on the landscaping at the rear of the hotel. The terrace has been removed and the ground prepared to receive beautiful Indian sandstone pavestones and the foundation for the banquette seating has also been laid.
Inside, new bathroom layouts have been constructed for several rooms on the ground floor and first floor whilst repairs have been made to a lot of structurally unsafe areas, such as above the kitchen.
We have some news to share.
We’re taking a cue from our sister hotel, West Lodge Park, and we’re in the process of obtaining a marriage licence so we can conduct wedding ceremonies right here at The Bell!
If all goes according to plan, you will be able to get married at the Bell and celebrate with your closest friends and family in our beautiful space. There are still a lot of details that need to be worked out, but we hope to offer all kinds of ceremonies, receptions, wedding breakfasts and more.
We can’t wait to see what kind of wonderful celebrations you will be sharing with us!
We’re so excited to see how far the hotel has come in such a short time.
So, despite the small setbacks things are really starting to take shape and seeing the vision come together is incredibly exciting for all of us. The extensive works on this historic building really will mark the start of a new era for the hotel as it upgrades to a luxury, boutique venue.
It’s been an amazing journey so far, but it’s only just begun. We will continue working hard every day to make sure this hotel is everything you want it to be!
